Shelters

  • The former Gold's Gym at 1815 Hendersonville Road in Asheville. This location has a playroom for children, making it ideal for families. No pets are allowed.

  • A general shelter is also available at AB Tech Conference Center (16 Fernihurst Drive, Asheville, use Victoria Road entrance).

  • A Medical Emergency Shelter (10 Genevieve Circle, Asheville) available for those dependent on medical equipment.

  • Note: The shelter at the WNC Agricultural Center is full as of Oct. 2.

  • These are open from Noon to 4pm

    • William W. Estes Elementary School - 275 Overlook Road, Asheville 

    • Sand Hill Elementary - 154 Sand Hill School Road, Asheville (Please enter via Acton Circle)

    • Ingles Black Mountain - 550 NC-9, Black Mountain, NC 28711 (this site is operated by the Town of Black Mountain with support from County warehouse distribution)

  • The City of Asheville is distributing water at the following locations:

    • Pack Square Park (70 Court Plaza): Bring your own water container, 2 gallons per person/day, walk-up

    • Asheville Middle School (211 S. French Broad Ave): 1 case of bottled water per family/day, drive thru

    • Shiloh Community Center (121 Shiloh Rd)

  • Weaverville is providing water North Windy Ridge Intermediate School (20 Doan Road in Weaverville). Bring your own water containers.

  • A boil advisory is in effect, please conserve water. If you cannot boil water, add 8 drops of bleach to a gallon of water.

  • Pantry items and water are at Weaverville Community Center (60 Lakeshore Drive, Weaverville) on Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Donations will be accepted from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.

  • For Marshall residents, the AB Tech Madison campus is offering supplies including pet food.

  • In Woodfin, food is available at Town Hall at 90 Elk Road beginning daily at 2 p.m

  • Biltmore Church

    • Arden Campus (35 Clayton Road) - 3pm - 6pm - Drive Through Distribution of Water, Ice, and Meal Supplies 

    • East Asheville Campus (800 Fairview Road)- 2pm - 5pm - Non-Perishable Food, Water, Hygiene Kits, and Meals

WIFI Access & Cell Phone Access

Towers at two locations offer limited cellular reception within several city blocks of where they are parked. The towers are located at

  • Family Justice Center at 35 Woodfin Street

  • Groce United Methodist Church at 954 Tunnel Road.

T-Mobile has set up satellite cellular on light trucks in Asheville, providing cellular service along with Wi-Fi and charging stations at:

    •    Asheville Middle School at 211 S French Broad Ave

    •    Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center at 285 Livingston St.

Food & Supplies

  • Woodland Baptist Church, 545 Crabtree Rd in Waynesville. Supplies available Monday through Friday from 8AM to 6PM; donations accepted. Saturday from 9AM – 6PM. Sunday from 2PM – 6PM.

  • Jonathan Valley Elementary School, 410 Hall Dr in Waynesville. Supplies available Monday through Friday from 8AM to 6PM; donations accepted.

  • Bethel Elementary School, 4700 Old River Rd in Canton. Supplies available Monday through Friday from 8AM to 6PM; donations accepted.

  • Maggie Valley Pavilion, 3987 Soco Rd in Maggie Valley. Supplies available Monday through Friday from 8AM to 8PM; donations accepted.

  • Emergency Shelter at 235 Armory Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.

Resource hubs

Henderson County Resource Hub locations will be open Thursday, October 3rd beginning at 9:00 a.m. for water distribution and other supplies as they become available.

  • Free hot meals to go are served twice daily around noon and 5 p.m. at four of the resource hubs:

Food

Meals available: Jackson County Public Schools served more than 1100 meals to the community today. Meals will continue to be served daily through Friday, Oct. 4 from 11:30-12:30 at Blue Ridge School, Smokey Mountain Elementary, and Smoky Mountain High School.

Donate

Birthstone Breastfeeding & Wellness Center 

  • Serving as a donation site for infant feeding supplies as well as other baby supplies, food, water, Clorox, propane and other resources. They have some people who can make deliveries locally. They can also store breast milk for anyone at risk of losing it and if anyone needs breast milk, they can contact her. They are located at 494 W. Main Street in Sylva. 

 

The Community Table 

  • Accepting shelf-stable foods and water. They are located at 23 Central Street next to the Sylva Community  Pool for folks in need of resources. The organization says that it has limited outgoing calls, and internet, but is receiving incoming calls.

  • Daily until power is restored, 11am-4pm – Balsam Grove Community Center (8732 Parkway Rd)

  • Daily, 12pm-2pm – meals at Bread of Life (238 S Caldwell St)

  • Monday, Sept. 30 – Friday, Oct. 4, 1pm-4pm – hot meal from Smoke On at Champion Park parking lot (38 Main St Rosman)

  • Monday, Sept. 30 – Saturday, Oct. 5, 12pm-4pm – hot food, water, and supplies at Destiny Church (48 Tiptop Rd)

  • Tuesday, Oct. 1 – Friday, Oct. 4, 11am-2pm – hot meal and food distribution by the Hunger Coalition at The Family Place (970 Old Hendersonville Hwy)

  • Wednesday, Oct. 2 – cookout at Grace Church (55 E Jordan St)

  • Friday, Oct. 4, 5:30pm and Saturday, Oct. 5, 8am and 12pm – meal and supplies at Rosman High School Old Gym (749 Pickens Hwy)

  • Saturday, Oct. 5, 12pm-5pm – hot food at Bethel A Church (290 Oakdale St)

  • Water Filling Stations: Residents are asked to bring their own containers.
